Between poetry and painting

Of the many webs that entangles the human heart, it can be said that art achieves one of the magisterial proportions of human existence. In this incessant war, the natural desire to be expressive takes on a singular nuance, and this precisely where the Swedish artist Stefan Umærus succeeds, as his soul shouts out: To cross the visible limits of culture, and to arrive on the other side, something that is not altogether that easy. But when the inquisitive spirit is noble, for sure the way will be safe and warm.

Open until the 30 of May, 2000, the exhibition, "Anatomia del Mundo/ Documentos para la vida publica 2000", at the Museo de Arte Moderno engages you in a dialog of a thousand possibilities, between word and image. A game in which poems, diaries and brushstrokes of colors are unfolded for you, because they want to speak of the splendors of the Earth, and extend the borders of contemporary culture.

To integrate of all the diverse visions of the post-modernity in formats that include new forms of expression, is not only the result of its many difficulties. The integration of poetry has to be fruitful, and the relation word-painting becomes a necessary way to shape the content, and to give it grandeur.

In the poetry we encounter life, passion, love, and in the painting the expression takes refuge to expose to the light a great work loaded with emotion, which without gags or constraints ennobles the work of all artists.

The exhibit is not only paintings and poems, but also diaries and videos of proposals done by Stefan Umaerus, in different parts of the world.

With twenty poems and twenty digital images, the Swedish artist forms a portfolio, about his experiences in this country at moment when hurricane Georges whipped the island. The portfolio is part of the private collection of the library at Altos de Chavón, and also part of this exhibition.

"Connecting Vocabularies", a documentation in painting, poems, diaries and video about the time before the massacre at Tiananmen Square, in China, is the result of the time when the artist is found in Beijing, studying the Chinese language.

The project mentioned above is a work that the artist made jointly with Chely Depablos. The exhibition closes with a book written by the artist.

Entre la poesía y la pintura

Dentro las más recónditas marañas que tejen los sentimientos humanos, podría decirse que el arte alcanza una de las proporciones magistrales en el ser. En esta incesante lucha, el deseo natural de expresarse adquire un singular matiz, y es donde precisamente el artista sueco Stefan Umaerus logra lo que grita su alma: Traspasar los limites visibles de la cultura, y llegar hasta el otro lado, algo que no es tan fácil. Pero cuando se cuenta con un espíritu inquisidor que ennoblece, de seguro el camino ha de tornarse seguro y cálido.

"Anatomia del Mundo/ Documentos para la vida Pública 2000", exposicion que se presenta en el Museo de Arte Moderno hasta el próximo martes 30 de mayo, es un díalogo de mil posibilidades, entre la palabrqa y la imagen. Un juego en el que poemas, diarios y trazos de colores se desdoblan para bien, porque se quiere hablar de los esplendores de la tierra, y por demás, rompiendo con las fronteras posibles de la cultura contemporánea.

Integrar todas las diversias visiones de la posmodernidad en formatos que abarcan nuevas formas de expresión, no es sino el resultado de sus muchas inquietudes. La integración del la poesía no podría ser fortuita, la relación palabra-pintura se hace necesaria como una manera de plasmar su gran contenido.

En la poesia encuantra vida, pasión, amor, asimismo, en la pintura se refugia para luego exponer a la luz una gran obra cargada de sentimientos, que sin tapujos ni trabas enaltecen el trabajo de todo artista.

La muestra no es solamente pintura y poemas, sino diarios y videos de propuestas hechas por Stefan Umaerus, realizado en distintos lugaras del mundo.

Con veinte poemas y veinte imágenes digitales , el artista sueco formó un portafolio, que comprende vivencias de su estadía en el pais, en momentos en que el huracán Georges se azotó la isla. Asimimismo, parte de su colección privada perteneciente a su biblioteca, forma parte de esta exposición.

En "Conectando Vocabularios", documentación en pintura, poemas, diarios y video del tiempo antes de la masacre de la Plaza Tiananmen, en China, como resultado del tiempo en que se encontra en Beijing, estudiando el idioma chino.

El proyecto antes mencionado es un trabajo que el artista realizo conjuntamente con Chely Depablos. La exhibición cuenta con un libro escrito por el artista.
